ALMA RECORDS ANNOUNCES SIGNING OF ELLEN DOTY
November 13, 2017

Toronto, Canada, November 13, 2017 - Toronto-based “music first” record label Alma Records, celebrating its 25th anniversary, is very proud to announce the signing of Canadian vocalist and songwriter Ellen Doty to an exclusive multi-release deal. Doty brings her unique blend of jazz, soul, folk and indie music to listeners around the world. Her much anticipated sophomore album Come Fall is set for worldwide release on March 2, 2018, with distribution in Canada by Universal Music Canada.

Come Fall was recorded at Sumbler House near Toronto with drummer Davide Di Renzo (Cassandra Wilson, Tom Cochrane, Molly Johnson, etc.) and pianist Mark Lalama (Kevin Breit, Sisters Euclid, Daniel Romano, etc.). It was recorded and mixed by Juno-award winning engineer John “Beetle” Bailey, and features co-writes with many notable writers including Justin Rutledge, Andy Stochansky, Danny Vacon (The Dudes), and more.

Ellen Doty is one of Canada’s premiere young artists and songwriters. Her soulful vocals combined with heartfelt, deeply personal lyrics create memorable experiences for the listener. Doty has been a performer since the tender age of five. Her 2014 debut pop-jazz album Gold reached top 10 on numerous college radio charts in Canada, and was followed by a successful 42-date, entirely self-booked tour across the country. Her new album Come Fall arrives after two years of song writing and experimentation, offering a genre-bending sound that is unquestionably hers. The music is stripped down to its barest form without bass, background vocals, horns or layers of any kind; only piano, voice and drums, providing a raw and spacious sound.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Ellen Doty to the Alma Records family” says Peter Cardinali, President of Alma Records. “Ellen’s heartfelt vocals have a way of cutting right to your soul and we’re excited about introducing her to the world.”
